14 Hard Truths About Love & Relationships
And outsourcing life admin for more free time & mental space
I’m all about outsourcing life admin these days.
It’s a lesson from my Virtual Assistant days where much of my focus was on monitoring billable hours.
It shifted the way I value my time.
Now, I outsource life admin so I can either spend more hours working (earning more) or take sufficient rest and play to support my mental wellbeing.
I wrote about this on Twitter this week - click to read the 4 things I recommend:

14 Hard Truths About Love & Relationships
I am 37 years old and have been in a long-term relationship since I was 19.
18 years together, 8 of them married.
And while we have been together for many years, I am a realist.
I know love doesn’t last forever and that 50% of marriages end in divorce.
Yet, marriage can be one of the most significant personal development journeys (second to parenting).

How a Running App Changed My Fitness & Mindset
Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue — a condition where your adrenal glands are exhausted from prolonged periods of stress, and unable to regulate hormones sufficiently (especially cortisol).
Part of my treatment is to avoid high-intensity exercise as this causes stress on the body. I was prescribed yoga, walking and light jogging or running.
I decided long ago I would never be ‘a runner’. My previous attempts to run had been challenging and brief.
However, my friend told me about a running app called ‘Couch to 5k Runner’. Apparently, it could train you to run 5 kilometres in just a few weeks, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Here’s how the app improved my fitness and mindset:
Lessons From My Social Media Detox
In July I did a social media detox, specifically Instagram.
Not surprisingly, I didn’t miss anything and stayed on the detox well into August.
I lost the desire to scroll.
Now when I log in to Instagram, I feel less reactive to what I see and rarely do I get sucked into reels like I used to.
Since the detox, I’ve unfollowed many accounts that didn’t ‘bring me joy’. Marie Kondo would be proud!
I highly recommend doing a 4-week detox to remember that the real world is outside of social media. Those connections matter more.
Best wishes,
Joanna
